17 Strong provides Victory Trips for young adults, 18-40, who have suffered the trauma of catastrophic illness. Ryan Teixeira, our son, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 18. He started planning a trip from another organization in the hospital as something to look forward to after treatment, but was denied due to age cutoffs. Ryan was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at age eighteen, five months after signing a baseball scholarship contract with Colorado Mesa University in November of 2014. His dreams were put on hold while he battled for his life.
